Anton Koval, a partner at Doubinsky & Osharova, shared his views on current trends in the field of intellectual property in a commentary for Yurydychna Gazeta.
According to Anton Koval, the development of the IP sphere in Ukraine today is driven by three key factors: the full-scale war, rapid technological progress, and changes in government regulation.
In particular, the expert noted:
• an increase in the number of registrations of intellectual property rights in the military and defense sectors;
• active reforms within the Ministry of Defense regarding the development and licensing of new technologies and service-related inventions;
• growing awareness among small businesses about IP rights protection and the importance of registering trademarks and copyrights before entering the market;
• a rise in cases of amicable settlement of judicial and criminal disputes in the field of IP;
• challenges associated with the use of artificial intelligence, which require a new regulatory framework and clear rules on liability for IP infringements.
"Intellectual property in Ukraine continues to develop even under difficult conditions. We support businesses in protecting their rights and help them leverage IP as an asset for growth," said Anton Koval.
