It is an extremely valuable intangible asset of its right holder that increases the value of the business and has the highest degree of protection according to the effective national legislation and the international instruments relating to the intellectual property Ukraine has ratified.

On March 4, 2021, the Intellectual Property Committee and the Pharmaceutical Law Committee of the Ukrainian Bar Association held an online meeting «Ukrainian Bolar and SPC».

On February 26, 2021, the Ukrainian Bar Assosiation’s Committee on Intellectual Property with the participation of Artem Tyshchenko, Head of the Department for Support to the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights, Department for Provision of Customs Control and Clearance of the Odessa Customs, the State Customs Service, discussed the protection of intellectual property rights at customs.

Amendments were introduced into the Law of Ukraine “On Protection of Rights to Inventions and Utility Models”. This could be considered an implementation of concept known in international practice as “Bolar Exemption”.

Last year, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted significant changes to the patent legislation. Changes have affected mainly the Laws of Ukraine "On Protection of Rights to Inventions and Utility Models", "On Medicines", "On Protection of Rights to Marks for Goods and Services”, "On Protection of Rights to Industrial Designs".

The number of unfair trademark registrations also known as the patent trolling increases every year in Ukraine.
